San Polo is located in the southeast area of Montalcino, in the locality of Podernovi. The estate covers
22 hectares in total, with 16 under vine, 8 of which are dedicated to Brunello production. Montalcino is
a microcosm of stone houses adorned with the colorful banners of its districts, steep stairways, and narrow
medieval lanes that suddenly open onto breathtaking views. From the imposing 14th-century fortress
overlooking the town, the gaze sweeps across a landscape that hardly needs introduction, for the beauty
of its scenery, the renown of its wines, and its thousand-year history. Rolling terraces, dirt roads, wheat
and sunflower fields, abbeys, villages, and vineyards succeed one another in a timeless rhythm. Here,
where Sangiovese reaches its finest expression and gives life to Brunello, Marilisa Allegrini purchased
San Polo in 2007. The winery, an outstanding example of bio-architecture, was designed to minimize
energy consumption and environmental impact, creating an ideal setting where grapes are crafted with
artisanal care, highlighting the finesse of Sangiovese’s aromas. San Polo, an organic estate since 2017,
has focused on enhancing the value of each individual vineyard through parcel-by-parcel management,
with the goal of showcasing the diversity of Sangiovese according to the soil in which it is grown.The
wines of San Polo, Rubio, Rosso di Montalcino, Brunello – Brunello Riserva, Amphora Vignamasso,
Brunello Podernovi, and Brunello Vignavecchia – reflect this vision and stand as its accomplished result.
