Villa Della Torre’s Valpolicella Classico Superiore is particularly intense and aromatic. Aging in wood gives the wine a complex and deep profile. In the glass, it is medium ruby red. The bouquet expresses aromas of raspberry, small berries, hints of vanilla, and spices. On the palate, it has substantial structure, subtle, well-integrated tannins, and a fresh, persistent finish. Harmonious and balanced, it is pleasantly smooth and fresh, making it very versatile to pair with food. While enjoyable in its youthful version, bottle aging will confer further depth and character.
This wine accompanies imposing white and red meat dishes, especially traditional Veronese dishes; this cuisine, with its local homestyle recipes, enhances poultry, above all chicken and turkey, rabbit, guinea fowl, and duck. It also pairs extremely well with cheese, such as the extraordinary cheeses of Verona’s Lessini mountains, and the dry-cured meats aged for protracted periods by the area’s farmers.
Recommended serving temperature: 61-64°F in a large red wine glass.
