Lugana Oasi Mantellina represents a new challenge for the Allegrini Family, which has purchased 40 hectares of land in the municipality of Pozzolengo, putting itself to the test in one the most interesting appellations in northern Italy. From the slopes of the medieval village, the Guyot-trained vineyards stretch out as far as the small lake that lends its name to the oasis, populated by rare animal species that find their natural habitat in this unspoilt location. Here the clays become more sandy, the hills roll more gently and contain considerable gravely elements. The wines are therefore less mineral and more acidic. Allegrini’s winemaking philosophy is played out again on this estate, starting from the careful choice of the locations in which the grapes are grown: pristine, unspoilt lands, close to Lake Garda with its mitigating effect on the vines, so well-known now after decades of work in the famous vineyards of the Valpolicella.

Lugana Oasi Mantellina is pale straw yellow in colour with greenish reflections. The delicate, understated fragrances proffer floral notes mixed with hints of almond. The palate is graceful, stylized, well-defined, taut and flavoursome.

The dry, non-sparkling style of Lugana in its simplest versions is excellent as an aperitif and paired with appetizers or freshwater fish such as trout, perch and whitefish. The versatility of this wine goes even further: the international appeal of the flavour of Lugana makes it a perfect match with raw fish, such as the Japanese preparations of sashimi and sushi and international variations on the theme. It is also ideal with salmon and tuna and goes perfectly with fish-based finger food. The ideal serving temperature (in wide tulip-shaped glasses for all versions) for baseline Lugana is 12°C.
